Clean eating. It’s a term that is becoming more and more mainstream. It is a concept that brings us back to the way life used to be. A time when most families had gardens in their back yards that provided them with fresh home grown vegetables all Summer long. Their harvest carried them through the cold Winter months thanks to root cellars, and the lost art of canning and pickling. It was seasonal eating at it’s best. It was a lot of work but a way of life. Today things are quite different. While many people continue to have a patio pot or two of tomatoes and others may tend to a small garden it’s just not the same. As a result of always wanting more, we find ourselves with limited time, busy schedules, and way too many outside commitments. We as a culture have taken the freeway to get there fast, and few of us continue to take the road less traveled.
I have learned first hand about the power of food and it’s effects on the body, especially my body and my children’s. We have paid very close attention to what our bodies are telling us. Well January is over and we are all setting in to 2014. The holidays are behind us and we are forging forward towards Spring. January was National Organizing month and you may have noticed or participated in a variety of helpful seminars that were offered in the area on that very topic. Others may have read an article, noticed your favorite stores stocked with neatly organized displays of storage containers, file folders, baskets, bins and other tools to get you organized once and for all! For those of you who have made some progress thus far, congratulations! The feelings you can have from being organized are truly empowering! Yet for most people the enthusiasm has simply worn off.
